What we hold about you, and why
Where this stands
The wording of this notice is still being settled, and we would rather leave it blank than write commitments nobody has agreed to. What is already true and already checkable is on Cookies and storage: the complete list of what is kept in your browser, what is counted on our servers, how long it is kept, and what we deliberately do not record. Nothing on this page will contradict that one.
What you can rely on today
- Nothing about your reading is counted until you say yes. The banner asks once, your answer is kept in a cookie, and saying no means no events are sent at all.
- We do not record your IP address, in any form, against anything you read.
- There is no advertising code, no tag manager and no third-party analytics script anywhere on this site.
- You can erase your account from your account settings. Every column that says who you were is blanked on the spot and the account can never sign in again; what survives is an id, because the audit log may not be rewritten and it points at one.
What is still outstanding
The full notice has to state a retention period for the personal details attached to a reported concern and to its evidence, a correction and removal policy for a published finding that names a real organisation, and the basis on which we hold an email address given to us by somebody else. Those are being settled rather than drafted here, and this page is where they will land.
